Acne & Acne Scarring

Active acne is caused by excess oil production, clogged pores, inflammation, and P. acnes bacteria. It needs to be calmed and controlled before scarring treatments will be effective.

Acne scarring is the aftermath: textural changes and pigmentation left behind once breakouts heal. This responds to entirely different treatments than active acne does.

Treating scarring while acne is still active can make things worse. That's why a proper evaluation matters before jumping into a specific treatment, especially for darker skin types, where aggressive treatments can trigger post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation if not managed carefully.
